Potential health benefits of anthocyanins in oxidative stress related disorders

نویسندگان

چکیده

Anthocyanins are naturally occurring water-soluble plant pigments belonging to the flavonoids chemical class. The red, blue and purple colours of leaves, flowers fruits plants confirm that they rich sources anthocyanins. Many in vivo vitro studies reveal anthocyanins have different health beneficial effects such as antioxidant, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, antihypertensive anticancer properties. Major benefits anthocyanin administration owing their potent anti-inflammatory antioxidant activities. Recent investigations revealed activities follow inhibitory pathways NF-кB-mediated decline inflammatory cytokines production. Inhibition also influences modulation arteriolar disorders cardiovascular complications due administration. Moreover, improve diabetes, obesity cancer pathology by inhibiting pathways. However, considerable variations do exist among structurally diverse This review appraises recent literature regarding molecular mechanisms various oxidative stress related pathophysiological conditions.

Hypoxia-Induced Oxidative Stress in Health Disorders

Chronic hypoxia has been shown to promote a large number of pathologies such as hypertension, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, and respiratory diseases. The oxidative stress that occurs during intermittent or continuous cellular hypoxia is likely involved in all these diseases. Indeed, the reactive species were demonstrated to inhibit active substances, modulate the signaling of intracel...

The Role of AOPP in Age-Related Bone Loss and the Potential Benefits of Berry Anthocyanins

Age-related bone loss is a major factor in osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures among the elderly. Because bone homeostasis involves a balance between bone formation and resorption, multiple mechanisms may induce age-dependent changes in bone. Oxidative stress is one such factor that contributes to the pathology of aging-associated osteoporosis (AAO). Advanced oxidation protein products (AOP...

Oxidative Stress: Harms and Benefits for Human Health

Oxidative stress is a phenomenon caused by an imbalance between production and accumulation of oxygen reactive species (ROS) in cells and tissues and the ability of a biological system to detoxify these reactive products. ROS can play, and in fact they do it, several physiological roles (i.e., cell signaling), and they are normally generated as by-products of oxygen metabolism; despite this, en...

Anthocyanins, from Biosynthesis in Plants to Human Health Benefits

Anthocyanins are an important group of highly hydrosoluble pigments in most species of plants. They are produced by secondary metabolism of plants (pentosophosphate, shikimate and flavonoid pathways) and are accumulated in cell vacuoles. In fruits and vegetables anthocyanins are present in the form of glycosides. The qualitative and quantitative determination of anthocyanins can be performed by...

Anthocyanidins and anthocyanins: colored pigments as food, pharmaceutical ingredients, and the potential health benefits

Anthocyanins are colored water-soluble pigments belonging to the phenolic group. The pigments are in glycosylated forms. Anthocyanins responsible for the colors, red, purple, and blue, are in fruits and vegetables. Berries, currants, grapes, and some tropical fruits have high anthocyanins content. Red to purplish blue-colored leafy vegetables, grains, roots, and tubers are the edible vegetables...
